Upon a preview sniff of Handful of Herbs our friend Corey exclaimed, "Ugh, this smells like yard work!"

And I couldn't have been happier, "Exactly!"

My husband doesn't expect that Handful of Herbs is going to be a big seller. There's very little gray area with his predictions, so the majority of you will either love it or hate it. I love it. The sun is steadily melting the thick piles of blizzard that shut down the city of Chicago a few weeks ago, the days are growing longer and there's an occasional bird tweet to be heard. It'll be several weeks before we see buds and sprouts. But our home smells like summer. Bliss.

The Fancy Hotel Indigo

All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. The Hotel Indigo chefs will be offering special lunch bites (at an additional cost, of course, but still). Sure to be a lovely event!

Wow. Seven shows over the past six weeks, about twice as many as I had originally planned. A wonderful start. And now I must pause. Right before the holidays?! you say. Yes.

Preparing for back-to-back shows. Purely Poured will be in Edgewater (the Farmer Fridays market at Uncommon Ground, 4-8P), Fairview in Mt Prospect, and the French Market in downtown Wheaton this weekend. I'll personally be at the latter two. In Edgewater, a friend will be representing my soy candles along with her own blended organic loose-leaf tea.

Over a year has passed since this all began. From the start, I have researched and tested extensively. Several dozen experiments ended up in our luminaria last year, surely the only pine and cedar scented burning bags in the Chicagoland area.

My friends: these candles were created singly, as gifts for you. You loved them, you shared them, you asked for more. You advised, you encouraged. And here we are, at last, the start of something a little bit bigger. Thank you!
